3, 2, 1... backup

With our digital lives becoming, if they have not already become essential how we are backing up is so neglected.  I came across this little 'way' or thinking about the concept and answering those questions I hear from time to time.  How often should I backup?  How should I back up? What should I backup on?

Well it seems to be as simple as 3, 2, 1...

3...

Create three copies of your files. The original and 2 copies

2...

have the copies on 2 different forms of media, e.g. hard drive, online, pen drive, CD/DVD etc.

1...

at least one copy should be off site, i.e. away from the original
